Hello and Welcome

Welcome to the Rockerman's Classic Rock blog! So what is "classic rock"? I know there are a lot of opinions and discussion about it, but for this blog, it's whatever I decide it is! While I have a wide musical taste, my favorite kind of music is and always has been that special genre of rock and roll that started roughly in the late 60's and continued through to the late 70's and beyond. Please check out my band, "Dark Horse" at http://www.thedarkhorseband.com to see what I've been up to lately.

I guess the reason I started this blog was for two reasons: first to record my memories of the music that I loved as it was happening, and second to help keep alive the spirit of rock music. I especially like rock and roll played with an "edge" as I like to call it. Whether it's edgy guitars or edgy vocals or just a cool hook in the music. Just turn it up and play with some feeling and I'm with ya!

I was born in 1956. My first memories of music date back to when I was around 4 years old or so. I can remember listening to some of that great 50's and early 60's music by the likes of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and all the other early rock and roll greats. I also specifically remember sitting at the dining room table and listening to Connie Francis (although I don't remember the song). My mother was (and is) a huge country music fan so I can also recall listening to songs by Charlie Pride, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Buck Owens, Patsy Cline, Sonny James and lots of others.

Please feel free to comment whenever you like. But be advised that I will not allow any posts that I feel are distasteful. I encourage your opinions and I don't mind if you disagree with me - just keep it respectful.

ROCK ON!

I think you guys rock, love your music and wished we lived closer to you all so we could go to every concert! It was great to be able to get to know each of you at Lee's place this summer. Keep jammin and look forward to hearing you all again soon!
